Syncro Fogata - Avo
Legendary jazz musician and cigar icon, Avo Uvezian, would purchase local cigars to place on his piano while he played in clubs in the evenings. Anyone who wanted to smoke, could grab a cigar. Eventually, these really became a hit with his fans. Then in 1987, Uvezian met Davidoff’s Hendrik Kelner. They hit it off and worked to create a special cigar designed for the musicians. The Avo was released the following year. Avo now has Davidoff tobacco at their disposal.

There is a fantastic aroma from this cigar. The typical Davidoff aromas are apparent in the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. The Syncro Fogata follows up the Syncro, a 93+ rated cigar by many. So while one might say, “Don’t fix what ain’t broke,” they definitely took a shot at it. And I’ve got to say, it doesn’t miss. The fogata was launched in 2016.
For me it’s the tasting notes of cedar, leather and a hint of sweetness throughout this cigar that make it great. There’s even a hint of sweetness along the way, maybe a citrus note. There’s something really fantastic about the quality of this cigar. The blend of two masters, Avo and Hendrik coming together to blend a powerful project.
If you have been a fan of Davidoff’s in the past and never tried the Avo, you should absolutely give it a try.
