Anemoi Notus - La Galera
The La Galera Anemoi line of cigars goes back in time to grab its inspiration. Anemoi is the Greek word for “wind gods.” It’s a celebration of the role the wind plays in helping tobacco grow. There are four cigars in the Anemoi line:
Notus - South Wind
Boreas - North Wind
Eurus - East Wind
Zephyrus - West Wind
The Anemoi Notus is a shout out to the rarest of the winds, the south wind. The wind from the south only arrives when there’s a hurricane or major storm system coming across the island.
The Anemoi Notus (along with the other three in the line) are handmade at the Tabacalera Palma Factory in the Dominican Republic. It’s strength profile I would put at a medium+. Its reddish and oily appearance comes from its Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Draped over a Dominican Corona binder and Dominican Piloto ‘98 and Criollo ‘98 fillers. I had notes of leather, coffee and nuts in this particular cigar.
Of the five vitolas (sizes and shapes) the Notus comes in, you won’t find them all in one place. La Galera has scattered them across the United States, sending four of the five to different regions known for their respective wind.
